V8.0 Announcement
Thomson Reuters PORTIA v8.0 Functional Release Candidate 2 (FRC2)
is now available!
This new version of Thomson Reuters PORTIA includes two new modules,
Corporate Actions and Thomson Reuters PORTIA ACCESS, and maintenance functionality complete with
an initial round of quality testing ready for your review. Formerly referred to
as Advanced Security and Application Access (ASAA), Thomson Reuters PORTIA ACCESS has been renamed
to more closely reflect its core offering as an Application aCCess and Enhanced
Security Solution. Thomson Reuters PORTIA v8.0 FRC2 also includes a number of maintenance features,
such as the ability to include external data in Thomson Reuters PORTIA reports, the ability to
organize reports and calculations into groups, and the ability to import files
in the XML format.
As we move from FRC2 to market release, the focus will
be on quality. Our QA group will be re-testing the entire release and running
regression scripts, including a number of client scripts that have now become
part of our standard QA process. Additionally, several clients have successfully
completed a first round of v8.0 functional testing using v8.0 FRC1. FRC1 was released
for client testing on April 3, 2006. Overall feedback from FRC1 clients has been
extremely positive. FRC2 will begin on May 12, 2006.
A critical part of
quality is the testing that our clients perform to check the release against their
work flows and their final validation of the new functionality. We have planned
for three months of FRC client testing prior to market release, which puts the
timing for market release at the end of June. This three month time period gives
us the opportunity to address any critical issues found by our clients or staff
during FRC testing so that we may address them in time for the market release.
